Known as “The Sportsman’s Paradise” this area along the forgotten coast has an endless supply of fun outdoor recreation opportunities. With so many miles of undeveloped and unspoiled coastlines, rivers, and lakes, and hundreds of thousands of acres of National Forest and wildlife refuges open to the public the opportunities for fresh and saltwater fishing, hunting, hiking, ATV and UTV riding, horse riding, canoeing, kayaking and endless other outdoor sports activities abound.
With a strong focus on sports and athletics both through the recreation parks on the county level and throughout the school systems athletes of all ages will find opportunities to play and develop. As they age having Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee Community College within 30 minutes provides more gifted athletes opportunities to progress upwards into college sports but stay living close to home. All of the colleges and universities also provide summer camp and development camp programs for local athletes as well.
After your playing days are done its nice to be able to have a place to go and enjoy watching sports and having major universities nearby provides opportunities to watch college football games, basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and a host of other sporting events at a very high collegiate level.
So whether its on the field or the court, or in the woods or on the water, this area has something to offer every sports and outdoor enthusiast.
